A new
study by Texas A&M shows organic fertilizers out-perform synthetic
fertilizers for lawn appearance!! Start your program Today!
Words of Wisdom.......
The City of Austin commissioned
a study through Texas A&M to measure the effects of different
types of fertility treatments on lawns. The City commissioned
the study to find out which fertilizers would be least likely to
pollute and still satisfy the desire for an attractive lawn. "The
Texas A&M study compared nine different fertilizers and found that
the certified organic, or other labeled, natural fertilizers
out-performed the synthetic products in the study for BOTH appearance
and pollution prevention."
More Words of Wisdom.....
"Organic, slow-release
fertilizers are particularly well suited to maintaining healthy,
vigorous lawn grasses. Thus, 'organic' lawn care can and should
result in reduced use of pesticides, if not in their
elimination." - Dr. Eliot C. Roberts, Director, The Lawn
Institute.
Cover your bare spots....
Covering your beds with a thick
layer (around 3") of mulch helps suppress weeds and retain
moisture. For tough or thick weeds, pulling or spraying with 20%
vinegar solution prior to mulching may be necessary. Sometimes
repeated vinegar applications are needed.
Takes
One to Know One.....
Get a
soil test for your lawn and figure out exactly what it is you need to
be giving it. This is a great way to reduce some of your costs
and avoid unnecessary fertilizers or treatments. EarthAction
